Paul Merson has urged Manchester United to ‘do all the can’ to sign a Tottenham player who has the ‘entire package’ this summer.
The former Arsenal star states that if United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer truly believes he can win the Premier League at Old Trafford then he must sign Harry Kane.
The England skipper is enjoying another 20-plus goal season for a Spurs side that is currently struggling for form.
And Sky Sports pundit Merson thinks the Red Devils should strike at the end of the season.
He said: “If I’m Man Utd, I’m doing all I can to buy Kane.
“I know Erling Haaland is on a lot of radars, but there should be only one person on Man Utd’s radar: Harry Kane.
“If they want to close the gap to Man City, they need someone to come to that club and score goals the minute he walks into that club, like Harry Kane can.
“Because Kane has done it, year in, year out, in this relentless league. Who is to know Haaland is going to hit the ground running in this league?
“You don’t have time in this league. Timo Werner was scoring goals left, right and centre, but came here and has struggled.
“Sometimes I watch Kane and think: ‘Am I the only one who sees this?’ I’d be paying everything to sign him. He’s got the entire package.
“Man Utd need to win the league now, not in five or six years’ time. Don’t get me wrong, Haaland is an unbelievable prospect.
“But for me it’s a no brainer – I’d want to win the league now!”
Inter striker ready to make Prem switch
Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez now believes the Premier League will be his ideal next destination, according to a report.
Martinez has performed well since joining Inter in 2018. The striker has scored 43 goals in 116 games for them, also adding 16 assists.
He has long been linked with a move away from San Siro. Barcelona was his preference before, but there has been Premier League interest in him for a long time.
Recently, it seemed as if Martinez would be on the verge of signing a new contract with Inter. However, it appears his future is still in question.
According to Don Balon, Martinez is yet to commit to the new terms on offer because he is weighing up a move to England in the future.
Manchester United and Manchester City are both interested in the striker. A report back in October claimed United had even placed him above Erling Haaland on their striker shortlist.
Now, Don Balon claim that Martinez would cost more than €70m. That could be a reasonable price for one of the best attackers in Serie A. Read more…
