RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche insists there’s nothing in claims that highly-rated coach Julian Nagelsmann could be in line to replace Jose Mourinho at Tottenham.
Mourinho is under pressure after Tottenham’s form took a turn for the worse. They have lost five of their last six league games and have also been knocked out of the FA Cup.
Progress in the Europa League has been something of a rare bright spot for Mourinho though. Indeed, with Tottenham down in ninth, a report this week claimed their next four Premier League games were vital to the Portuguese’s future. Spurs face Burnley, Fulham and Crystal Palace over the next week or so; games which Mourinho and Spurs simply have to win.
To increase the pressure further, it’s claimed Spurs are casting envious eyes at Nagelsmann as his would-be successor.
Those claims have been picked up by the German media. After all, Nagelsmann is regarded as the country’s brightest managerial hope. At just 33 years old, he’s already managed over 200 games in his career.
However, Krosche is easger to play down the rumours that Nagelsmann could succeed Mourinho at Spurs. However, speaking to BILD, he does admit he can see why their coach is a man in demand.
“When you do a good job, you arouse desire,” Krosche said.
“But Julian feels comfortable because he has everything he needs here. The team is developing great.
“That’s why I see no reason for him to switch – especially since he has a valid contract with us.”

Some Tottenham players unhappy with Mourinho
Meanwhile, The Athletic claim that some Spurs players are growing frustrated with Mourinho’s methods.
According to the website, there are three reasons some members of the squad are unhappy. Those players reportedly think Mourinho’s training sessions are “too defensive, too focused on the opposition, and not as intense as they were used to under Mauricio Pochettino”.
Other Tottenham players still have faith in the current manager, but there seems to be some disharmony among the ranks. He now faces a huge week to get their fortunes back on track.
