Klopp drops heavy hint that Liverpool star will miss Brighton clash Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has all but confirmed that Sadio Mane will not take to the field in the club’s Premier League encounter with Brighton on Saturday. The attacker played no part in the 3-1 win over West Ham at the weekend after picking up a knock in the champions’ victory over Tottenham a few days earlier. He was a menace throughout that game, arguably being Liverpool’s most potent threat, scoring his side’s third of the night. The muscle problem Mane incurred from the match is said only to be minor. And the Reds seemed to cope fine without him on Sunday, but they will want him to get back to full fitness as soon as possible. However, it seems like they will have to wait a little longer before welcoming Mane back into the side. According to the Mirror, though, Klopp said the situation with the forward is still “as it was.” As a result, Xherdan Shaqiri may be handed a second consecutive start. The Swiss provided a sumptuous assist for Mohamed Salah’s second goal against West Ham. Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino could come back in for Divock Origi while new signing Ben Davies is set to start on the bench. Ozan Kabak is yet to receive international clearance so will not feature. After the final whistle blows on Wednesday, attentions will turn to Sunday when Liverpool face league leaders Manchester City.
