Henderson points to key Klopp trait keeping all Liverpool players on side Jordan Henderson has leapt to the defence of Jurgen Klopp as the Liverpool captain insisted he and his team-mates take “full responsibility” for their blip in form. Defeat at Leicester on Saturday was Liverpool’s third in a row. That led Klopp to admit the defence of their Premier League title was over. The Reds fell 13 points behind leaders Manchester City, who have played one game fewer. Liverpool can briefly forget their domestic difficulties as they resume their Champions League campaign against RB Leipzig on Tuesday. And Henderson is eager to reward his manager’s faith in the group. Ahead of the trip to Budapest, the 30-year-old said: “The manager is really good in situations like this, in adversity he is the one we listen to the most. “He is always there for us and tries to protect us the most, but as players we take full responsibility. As players it is down to us to change the situation we are in. There are no question marks over the manager and how he reacts after games.” It was thought that the Anfield club would be major players again this season after running away with the crown. However, five defeats in eight league games has ended their hopes of back-to-back titles. Klopp remains level-headed when things are going well. And Henderson has revealed that the German tactician is equally as calm in the face of adversity. “He actually reacts totally opposite to what people would think and handles situations like that very well,” he added. “That is why we want to go out there and put in a performance on, for the team but him as well.” Players key to rescuing season There is still much to play for in 2020-2021, with securing a top-four berth a priority. A deep run in the Champions League would also help to lift some of the gloom. Henderson sees this week as a real opportunity to galvanise the club with the right result against Leipzig. “It is down to us to go out there and keep working hard, keep fighting to try to change this tough period that we’ve been going through over the last few weeks,” he continued. “Hopefully we can do that.” Following Tuesday’s return to European action, there is the small matter of a Merseyside derby at the weekend. Carlo Ancelotti brings his Everton side to Anfield on Saturday. Victory for the Toffees would see them draw level with Liverpool on 40 points.   READ MORE: Liverpool interested in Aston Villla defender The post Henderson points to key Klopp trait keeping all Liverpool players on side appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING
