Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw compare Amad Diallo to Prem great Manchester United defenders Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire are both in agreement over who Red Devils new boy Amad Diallo reminds them of. The 18-year-old arrived in Manchester in January after finalising the legalities of his October move from Atalanta. The teenager though has wasted no time in making an impact at the club. Indeed, he announced himself with a brace on his debut against Liverpool, including a Panenka penalty. As such, it seems a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ he becomes a first-team squad regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian seems ready to fast-track Diallo into his line-up too. The Ivorian made his debut on Thursday as Real Sociedad were crushed 4-0 in the Europa League. While he did not get on the scoresheet, he did feature for seven minutes  – much to Paul Scholes’ delight. Diallo has also been impressing his new United teammates on the training field too. Clearly unfazed by the pedigree of his opponents, both Maguire and Shaw have very much liked what they’ve seen. Indeed, the duo reckon he draws favourable comparisons with Algerian star Riyad Mahrez. The Man City winger has scored 80 goals since moving to England with Leicester in 2013. Explaining the comparison, the dup spoke to Sky Sports about Diallo. “He’s still so young but he’s come into training and you can tell he’s got confidence,” Shaw said. “You can tell by the way he plays, his first touch is brilliant, the way he takes the ball and drives at players. He’s got great skill. “Of course, like I said, very and got a long way to go. But you can tell already he’s going to be one for the future and I’m sure he’s not far away from getting a first-team appearance. “He’s a wonderful talent and already a wonderful player so I’m sure fans are looking forward to seeing him on the pitch. “It was interesting because Harry said to me the other day that he reminds him of Mahrez when he was at Leicester. “Really quick, skilful, agility, can turn really quick, got great skills and I would agree with Harry – he does remind me of Mahrez. “Even the way Mahrez plays now I’ve seen the qualities that Amad already has and has shown in training. “Mahrez is a wonderful player so hopefully if he’s any good like him it would be great for United.” Subscribe for free to TEAMtalk’s daily newsletter… Under-23s coach talks up Diallo United Under-23s manager Neil Wood also reckons Diallo is gaining in confidence each time he trains. Wood told Goal on the winger’s progress: “You see he has ability and he’s linking up well. “He doesn’t really have a relationship with any of these boys here but he came to Liverpool on Saturday and did well and the same against Blackburn. “He’s training with the first team and doing well and he’s still new to England and the style of football so it’s going to take time. “Like all young players you have to be patient with them.
