Liverpool are considering splashing out on a European star amid Jurgen Klopp exit fear, while Juventus receive a bid from Everton – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.
KLOPP EXIT FEAR SPREADING AT LIVERPOOL
Liverpool transfer chiefs are ‘studying’ a €110million (£96million) bid for Erling Haaland to keep fears about Jurgen Klopp’s premature exit at bay, according to a report.
The Reds are in a deep slump and face a fight to stay in the Premier League’s top four after sitting top on Christmas Day.
They have only managed two wins from their past 10 Premier League games and their 68-game unbeaten run at Anfield has been dashed by two quickfire defeats.
As such, Don Balon claims that there is a ‘fear’ spreading around the club that manager Klopp is considering leaving. Indeed, the German has supposedly come to the realisation that Liverpool’s winning cycle has ended.
In addition, taking over his country’s national team remains a temptation.
Transfer frustration over a lack of spending has irked Klopp in recent weeks. The Reds signed Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies for less than £5million after losing all three senior centre-halves to injury.
However, Don Balon claims that Liverpool chiefs are considering splashing out on Haaland to appease the manager.
Haaland is arguably the most coveted centre-forward in European football amid his meteoric rise since last season. The 20-year-old only moved to Borussia Dortmund last December, but has already been linked with his next step up.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all keen, as are Real Madrid on the near continent. As such, landing the Norwegian would prove a huge coup for Liverpool and would freshen up their attack.
Haaland has scored 39 goals in 41 games for Dortmund and a release clause worth £65million in his contract (via Fabrizio Romano) becomes active in 2022.
