Four more names have emerged as potential candidates to replace Sebastien Haller at West Ham, according to reports.
West Ham have confirmed the sale of Haller to Ajax for £20.2m. It means they make a significant loss on the striker they paid more than £40m for in 2019.
Haller failed to live up to his price tag after making the club-record move. He only scored 10 goals across one-and-a-half seasons in the Premier League.
Hence, West Ham decided to cut their losses on him in the January transfer window. Now, their attention must turn to finding a suitable replacement.
A number of reports have already surfaced suggesting who the Hammers could sign. One of the main names being mentioned is Joshua King.
West Ham were linked with the Bournemouth striker during the summer transfer window. However, the relegated side managed to keep hold of him – unlike some of their other players.
King retains an ambition to play in the Premier League again, though. Hence, The Sun claim that he could be on West Ham’s radar again.
They were prepared to pay £13m for his services during the last transfer window, but that offer was rejected. West Ham would be willing to try again, but Bournemouth still want more.
With Newcastle and West Brom also linked, the Cherries could command at least £15m.
King is out of contract at the end of the season, but West Ham cannot wait until then, as their options up front are now limited. However, they may have to pay more than they had set aside for the Norway international.
Alternatively, The Sun also claim that Graziano Pelle is a backup option. The striker has just left Chinese side Shandong Luneng, and could return to the Premier League after a stint with Southampton a few years ago.
However, Pelle would prefer to return to his native Italy, so may take some convincing.
Giroud, Arnautovic also on shortlist
Elsewhere, there are claims that West Ham could try to lure Marko Arnautovic back to London.
The Austrian previously played for the club between 2017 and 2019, before also moving to China. Recently, Sky Sports claimed West Ham had been offered the chance to re-sign the Shanghai SIPG forward.
The only problem, though, would be his wages. It would be hard for West Ham to match what he has gone on to earn in China.
Another option, then, is Olivier Giroud. According to Eurosport, the Hammers are keen on the Chelsea striker, who is considering his future.
Giroud is out of contract at the end of the season, and wants to find regular gametime before the summer’s European Championships.
It is claimed that staying in London would be “tempting” for the France international. Hence, West Ham are trying to find out how much the deal would cost them.
Eurosport also confirm that Sparta Prague youngster Adam Hlozek is an option, as is Reims’ Boulaye Dia.
Dia was suggested as a target for West Ham in the hours before Haller’s exit was finalised.
