Thomas Tuchel will retain the focus on youth Chelsea had under Frank Lampard, but their transfer plans are already changing – according to a report.
Tuchel has replaced Lampard as Chelsea manager following the former midfielder’s sacking. Lampard left the Blues ninth in the table.
After a summer of high spending, that was far off where they wanted to be. Hence, they decided to replace him with former PSG boss Tuchel, a Champions League finalist last season.
One of the more positive aspects of Lampard’s legacy was the emphasis he put on using young players. Academy graduates like Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Reece James all found key roles under him.
There are concerns that Chelsea will abandon that philosophy now that their manager has changed. But according to the Daily Mail, Tuchel still has plans for the aforementioned trio.
The German tactician took charge of his first training session on Tuesday and will be on the touchline for his first game on Wednesday. That should give the first hint of who he sees as his key men, but only time will tell how much the likes of Mount, Abraham and James will play.

Chelsea firm up transfer plans
As well as the numerous academy graduates, Lampard got to work with several big-money signings after a summer splurge before this season.
Not all the big names have ticked so far, so the club remain in the hunt for additional reinforcements.
Finding a new centre-forward is a priority, and Erling Haaland has been mentioned as a target. According to the Mail, Tuchel will continue the club’s pursuit of the Borussia Dortmund starlet.
However, one player who has fallen off their radar is Declan Rice. The West Ham midfielder was a top target for Lampard, but Tuchel’s arrival has coolled their interest.
