Tottenham could make a move for a South Korean team-mate of Son Heung-min this month, claims a report.
Daniel Levy and Spurs are all set to step up their interest in centre-back Kim Min-jae with Chelsea entering the race for the player.
The Daily Mirror claim Spurs could be readying an offer for the 24-year-old in a bid to beat Chelsea to the signing.
Jose Mourinho was interested in the player last summer after the departure of Jan Vertonghen.
Tottenham held talks with his club Beijing Guoan, according to reports from Korea via Sports.news.naver.com.
A source told the website that “as for Kim Min-jae transfer, negotiations are underway between Beijing Guoan and the Tottenham club. Both teams are positive about the transfer”.
However, Tottenham suffered two initial setbacks, with bids of below £10million both rejected by Guoan. The Chinese side were said to be looking for £15million.
Standing at 6ft 3in, Min-Jae is a towering centre back who is nicknamed ‘the monster’.
The paper now suggests Spurs are not willing to be beaten to a deal by Chelsea.
The Stamford Bridge club famously hi-jacked Spurs’ move for Willian in August 2013. They snatched the Brazilian from under their noses of Levy in a £30million deal.
Spurs also have the advantage of having Kim’s international team-mate Son already on board.
According to 90min in September, Son had stepped up efforts in attempting to convince Spurs to sign his team-mate.
Min-jae’s contract expires in December 2021 and his Beijing are said to be ready to cash in.
Dele a ‘priority’ for PSG
Meanwhile, Tottenham star Dele Alli has reportedly requested a move to PSG to link up with Mauricio Pochettino again and boost his hopes of playing at the delayed Euro 2020.
The attacking midfielder has hardly featured under Jose Mourinho this season after the Spurs boss previously questioned his attitude towards training.
The 24-year-old has featured largely in cup competitions and was impressive in the FA Cup win at Marine last weekend.
Mourinho recently admitted that he did not want to lose any of his top stars this month, with Harry Winks also linked to Valencia.
But Alli continues to be linked with a move to Paris, particularly after former Spurs boss Pochettino took charge.
And according to Téléfoot Chaîne’s Simone Rivera, Dele remains a priority for the French giants.
