Tottenham misfit heading to Turkey after failing to impress Mourinho Galatasaray are reportedly closing in on a deal for Gedson Fernandes, with the midfielder expected to return to Benfica this month after a disappointing loan spell at Tottenham. The 22-year-old joined Spurs on an 18-month loan deal last January, with an option to buy for £45million. However, Gedson has not featured in the Premier League this season. His only two appearanvces have come in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. According to Tuttomercatoweb, Fernandes will now return to Benfica before joining Galatasaray on loan. Benfica want to cut the midfielder’s spell in London short, but only if another club agrees to sign him. Serie A outfit Torino have also shown an interest, but Turkey now looks his most likely destination. Spurs fought off plenty competition to sign the Portugal international last year, but the move has been a disaster. Gedson made 12 appearances in all competitions last season, although he failed to register a goal or assist. Just last month, Benfica boss Jorge Jesus admitted the player would have been better off not moving to England. The midfielder is unlikely to be the only Spurs exit befor Monday’s deadline. Defender Danny Rose is also expected to move on, while rumours persist that Dele Alli could still force his way out. Mourinho has previously claimed that the England man is going nowhere, although PSG remain hopeful of a deal. Belgian giants want Alderweireld Belgian outfit Club Brugges are reportedly looking to use a former Liverpool star to lure Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld back to his homeland. The 31-year-old penned a new deal in north London in December 2019, just weeks after Jose Mourinho arrived. His current deal runs until 2023, but Alderweireld has found himself in and out of the side in recent weeks.
