Paper Talk: Man Utd make decision over £30m midfielder scouts love; Liverpool back in for Prem centre-back Manchester United have made a decision over whether to sign Lille star Boubakary Soumare this month, while Liverpool are back in for a Premier League centre-back, according to Thursday’s transfer gossip. UNITED MAKE SOUMARE DECISION Manchester United have reportedly decided against signing Lille star Boubakary Soumare in the January transfer window. The talented midfielder, who is valued at around £30million, has been strongly linked with a move to the Red Devils, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having a well-stocked engine room. However, the report in the Daily Express claims that United could still opt to pursue the 21-year-old in the summer. Manchester United are flying at present, as they sit top of the Premier League, and that will not prompt Ed Woodward to splash the cash. Indeed, the club are looking to offload some fringe stars – with Timothy Fosu-Mensah already packed off to Germany. The Athletic states that United decided against a move for Soumare this month, despite scouts being impressed by the Lille star. The 21-year-old has made 16 Ligue 1 matches this term, helping his side to third in the table behind Lyon and PSG.   But while United have been monitoring the Frenchman, they appear content with what they’ve currently got. Fred, Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay are all performing well in a defensive role, while Bruno Fernandes continues to sparkle and Paul Pogba is back to somwhere near his best. That has seemingly negated the need for any reinforcements at this stage of the season. Soumare, however, would be a strong addition to United’s midfield is they do explore a deal again in the summer. Manchester United have made a decision over whether to sign Lille star Boubakary Soumare this month, while Liverpool are back in for a Premier League centre-back, according to Thursday’s transfer gossip.

UNITED MAKE SOUMARE DECISION

Manchester United have reportedly decided against signing Lille star Boubakary Soumare in the January transfer window.
