Liverpool ‘trying’ for defensive solution Klopp has since suggested Matip’s injury might not be as serious as first feared, but says Fabinho will not play against West Ham. Klopp said: “There are still glimmers of hope that it’s not that serious, so no we don’t have the final result. “We will know more in three or four hours, hopefully and Fabinho, no chance for the weekend.” The German coach did though signal the club’s intention to make a signing in the window, despite its closure on Monday at 11pm. “We will try. It will be funny when you all think ‘Ah, Liverpool is fine with the situation, they don’t care, they don’t try. We try,” he told reporters. “But there’s nothing to say until something happens, so we will see.
