Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that he is unsure whether Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United could yet prove to be the “turning point” in the club’s form.
The Reds went into the FA Cup fourth-round tie after a run of four games without scoring – aside from the third-round win over Aston Villa’s youth side.
But Liverpool showed much more impetus against United than in recent games. As such, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah combined for the Egyptian’s brace at Old Trafford.
Failing to score has proved an uncommon problem for Klopp’s Liverpool. Therefore, he faced questions in Wednesday’s press conference about the 3-2 loss being a decisive match.
“Everybody is asking if that was the turning point and I want it to be the turning point,” the manager said (via the Liverpool Echo).
“That would be really nice but of course, we conceded three goals and that is not what we want.
“The situation is a challenge and a challenge is good, that’s fine with me. I’m not at a point in my life where I think everything should be perfect.
“If something is wrong then we work at it and that’s what we’re doing.”
Klopp was speaking ahead of Thursday’s clash with Tottenham in north London.
Spurs are the first fixture in a tough upcoming run for Liverpool. Indeed, they also play Leicester and Manchester City in the coming weeks.
But after five games without victory in the top flight, Klopp warned his Spurs counterpart Jose Mourinho of Liverpool’s intentions.
Klopp ready for Tottenham scrap

“We will be positive to the positive things and critical of bad things. We will be ready for a fight tomorrow night,” he said.
“Where it will lead, I don’t know. In a month’s time, a lot of things can happen.
“I hope next month is much more positive. I’m not only a good-weather coach.”
Elsewhere in his press briefing, Klopp confirmed a double injury boost for Liverpool.
