Expert backs Man Utd to seal signing of £53.4m title decider in January Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being backed to secure a big-money signing this month to help Manchester United in their push to become Premier League champions. United go to Anfield on Sunday three points clear at the top. A win over Jurgen Klopp’s side will extend their advantage to six points. Furthermore, it will also further claims that United could claim a first Premier League title since 2013. The Red Devils have already bolstered their wide attacking areas this month with the signing of Amad Diallo. However, they are reportedly still looking to tighten up at the back and could yet target a new defender. Eric Bailly has done well in recent games alongside Harry Maguire. However, United are still in the hunt for a new centre-half. Indeed, reports have linked them with Villarreal’s Pau Torres this month. However, transfer expert David Webb is backing United to sign another long-term in Dayot Upamecano instead. Webb has tracked Upamecano for years and believes he has developed into a ‘top’ player. He also suggested he could prove the difference-maker in the race to win the Premier League title Speaking to Sky Sports, Webb is adamant that Upamecano would improve the United defence. “It’s an interesting one because both teams are looking to compete on all fronts, especially with Manchester United’s recent surge up the league and Liverpool’s defensive problems at the moment.” “A particular player (I would recommend) that springs to mind is Dayot Upamecano; one I’ve known for quite a long time. He broke onto the scene when he was signed from Valencia to Red Bull Salzburg.” The 22-year-old’s contract with RB Leipzig will expire in 2023. In summer 2021, a clause in that deal would allow suitors to sign him for a fee of €45million euros. However, SportBild suggest a sale this month of around €60m (£53.4million) could yet materialise. It’s worth pointing out, however, that trusted transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims Leipzig won’t sell Upamecano in January. He goes on to state though that the Bundesliga side are resigned to his exit this summer. Despite his status as United’s best player, Dwight Yorke has challenged the midfielder to lead United to silverware. Yorke told Sky Sports: “He has come in and really lifted the team in a really massive way. Ole deserves a lot of credit for recognising such a player to bring in. “What he has brought to the team has been second to none. He has been consistent and a star performer week in, week out, and has mobilised the team and given them an energy which was lacking earlier on in the campaign. “He is undoubtedly one of the best players there, if not the best player there at this present time, but there is no point being the best player if you don’t go on to win things at Manchester United. “You are always going to be judged by the fact you have won things. “They got to three semi-finals last season and they have got to another semi-final this year and not got over the line. So time is ticking in terms of that and in terms of the results. “It is not very often that you get to those kinds of positions and he now needs to convert those into trophies – that will be the next steps. “In terms of where he (Solskjaer) has the team at the moment, every Manchester United fan will be singing with a lot of joy. It is not something we have been able to do in recent times so this is a very good time for the football club and the fans around the world.” READ MORE: Man Utd, Inter to agree loan swap as unhappy star forces Solskjaer hand   The post Expert backs Man Utd to seal signing of £53.4m title decider in January appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING

Despite his status as United’s best player, Dwight Yorke has challenged the midfielder to lead United to silverware.

Yorke told Sky Sports: “He has come in and really lifted the team in a really massive way. Ole deserves a lot of credit for recognising such a player to bring in.
