Arteta warns Arsenal ‘understanding’ has clicked; drools over possibilities Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes that the “understanding” between his players is starting to emerge after three successive wins. The Gunners had looked like being in a relegation scrap before Christmas. Indeed, they sat 15th and had not won in seven Premier League games. However, they followed up a 3-1 Boxing Day win over Chelsea with clean-sheet wins over Brighton and West Brom. In fact, they showed their true attacking intent against the Baggies on Saturday, claiming a 4-0 rout. Striker and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang again failed to get on the scoresheet. But after insisting that his teammates must also contribute, Arteta noted after the match that his other players are beginning to click into gear. “I keep saying that we cannot put on Auba the whole weight on his shoulders to score the goals,” the Spaniard said (via the Daily Mirror). “We need contributions. Midfielders have to score more goals, needs to give more assists and we need goals from our wingers as well. “Auba has some chances today he could have scored the same in the last game or so.” Arteta added: “I am so pleased because I thought in the final third we looked lively.     “There is a lot of movement, there is good energy, there is a real purpose, everybody’s playing forward. “It’s like we are freer to play there. And The understanding is coming to generate a lot of things there.” Arsenal moved up to 11th in the table after their latest win, which came through goals from Kieran Tierney, Bukayo Saka and a brace from Alexandre Lacazette. Arsenal justifying Arteta request Indeed, as Arteta had requested, Tierney’s goal proved one of many contributions from across his team. The left-back later assisted Lacazette for his second, while midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe also notched an assist. And despite Tierney doing all the work for himself for the first goal, Rob Holding will go down as setting the chance up.
