Ian Wright believes Manchester United should ask Juventus for two of their top young stars if the Turin giants still want Paul Pogba.
Pogba has been strongly linked with a return to Juve again after his agent Mino Raiola claimed he was “unhappy” at Old Trafford.
Those comments could spark a transfer battle in January, with Real Madrid also keen on the World Cup winner.
The 27-year-old is believed to favour a move back to Italy, with United already reportedly slashing his price.
But with an exit looking more and more likely, Wright thinks the Red Devils should take advantage of Juve’s defensive strength by demanding Matthijs de Ligt and Merih Demiral in return.
He told the Daily Star: “You know what I’d do if I was United? Because it looks like they are going to sell Pogba.
“If I’m United now, I’m going in and saying, ‘You know what? Give us De Ligt, give us Demiral’, those kind of players. Those young players.”
United’s brittle defence faces another big test this weekend when they face City in the Manchester derby.
It comes off the back of them conceding three times at RB Leipzig to crash out of the Champions League.
And Wright is unsure what will happen when United take on free-scoring City on Sunday.
He added: “I honestly don’t know. Because, when I look at Solskjaer, with the players he’s capable of putting out there, you’d like to think he’s going to go out and attack Manchester City and try.
“Defensively, he should try and force Manchester City out to the wings.
“Yes, [Sergio] Aguero’s in there but if you can force them outside and get them to have to put the ball in, instead of going into those little areas they like. Restrict them to that.”

United given fresh Gealish hope
Manchester United have been given fresh hope they could sign Jack Grealish after Dean Smith admitted the player could still look for a way out at Aston Villa.
The 25-year-old Birmingham-born player has stepped up through the gears this season and made himself one of the Premier League’s stand out players.
Grealish was instrumental in keeping Villa in the Premier League with eight goals and six assists last season. However, this season he has stepped on the gas and forced his way into Gareth Southgate’s England XI.
Grealish has already scored five goals and grabbed six assists in nine Premier League games and Southgate has been unable to ignore him.
It’s no surprise to see that Villa now reportedly rate the star at nearer the £100m mark.
Grealish was the subject of strong interest from United over the summer. However, they signed Donny van de Beek instead. Grealish subsequently signed a new deal at Villa Park.
Reports this week claimed United though still very much remained keen on Grealish.
Furthermore, Smith – in an interview with Stadium Astro – knows Villa might not keep Grealish for that much longer.
Indeed, he even admits that unless they soon reach Europe, the England man could soon be off. Read more…
