The Reds have been on the lookout for new midfield recruits since doubts emerged over Gini Wijnaldum’s long-term future at the club. The Holland star has been continually tipped to make a free transfer switch to Barcelona next summer. And with that in mind, TuttoMercatoWeb (as cited by the Daily Mirror) claims that Sanches could be on his way to Anfield. The 23-year-old had a spell at Swansea on loan from Bayern Munich in the 2017-18 season, but failed to make much of an impression. However, he has rediscovered his best form at Lille and may now be set for a move to Merseyside. Depending on how much truth there is in these reports, it would appear that Wijnaldum’s days at Liverpool are numbered. That will come as a bitter blow to Jurgen Klopp, who made the midfielder a mainstay of his title-winning side.
