It was then up to Darlow to come to the rescue as he somehow kept out an effort from Sergio Aguero, on for Torres as a substitute, from close range. The damage had already been done, though, and City held on to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to 10 games. After an indifferent start to the season, they have now risen to their highest position in the table so far this term. Newcastle, on the other hand, are without a win in their last four games – and face the daunting task of hosting champions Liverpool next.
