It now appears the friction that remains will likely prevent a deal from happening. The Red Devils still hold a strong interest in the player, with The Athletic claiming he is top of Solskjaer’s wishlist. But the relationship between club officials and Raiola is still poor. Those relations have been further strained following Raiola’s stance over United star Paul Pogba. The super agent admitted recently that his client wanted out of Manchester but has since backtracked on the comments. With that in mind, a report in the Daily Mirror claims United have now switched targets to Dominic Calvert Lewin. The Everton striker has been on fire this season, having bagged 14 goals in 16 games in all competitions. The England frontman is still under contract until 2025 and it would take a huge offer to tempt the Toffees into selling. Calvert-Lewin’s style of play is very similar to that of Haaland, which fits in with Solskjaer’s plans. United are in the market for a new frontman, with Odion Ighalo heading back to China in January. Edinson Cavani is only contracted until the end of the season, following his move as a free agent this summer.
