Leeds ‘hopeful’ key man will pen contract extension before New Year Leeds United are hopeful that Ezgjan Alioski will put pen-to-paper on a new deal before the January transfer window opens.  Alioski has continued to be a regular for the Whites the season following their promotion to the Premier League. He has featured in nine of his side’s 11 games so far, featuring at left back and left midfield. His versatility is a handy tool for Marcelo Bielsa, particularly at a time when he is without a number of defensive players. Centre-backs Robin Koch and Diego Llorente are both currently sidelined and Alioski will play a part in the reshuffle of the team. He was named on the left side of defence for Leeds’ meeting with West Ham on Friday night. But the Macedonian is in the final year of his contract and would be free to start negotiating with other clubs from January. However, a report on Football Insider says Leeds are hopeful it won’t come to that. They say that negotiations with Alioski are underway and Leeds chiefs are believe an agreement could be reached in the next few weeks. An offer worth £30,000 per week and an overall total of £5million has reportedly been tabled. The length of the deal is believed to be four years. Alioski ‘would love’ to stay Negotiations shouldn’t be too difficult for Leeds as Alioski has publicly stated he would like to stay in West Yorkshire. The 28-year-old joined from FC Lagano in July 2017 and has since played 143 games for the club. And earlier this month, he made it clear he hopes to continue his journey at Elland Road. He told BBC West Yorkshire Sport: “Still nothing has happened. I am here, of course, until my contract ends next year. “But I am not thinking that I will leave Leeds. My head is only for Leeds, concentrated. But what will happen will happen in the end. “Of course I would love to stay here, but these are things for other people to manage. I want to enjoy only the moment I am here. I want to be focused on the football. “Other things, of course, I see in the media, but nothing has happened still. I am here every day serious, enjoying every day in Leeds.” READ MORE: A former Leeds star has urged his former side to make another attempt to sign an Argentine international who was missed out on in the summer.   The post Leeds ‘hopeful’ key man will pen contract extension before New Year appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING
