Tottenham will do battle with a European giant to sign a Serie A star, while Arsenal are contemplating a shock January sale – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.
SPURS IN BATTLE FOR DONNARUMMA
Tottenham are ‘serious’ about battling Paris Saint-Germain to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the near future, according to a report.
Todofichajes claims that Spurs eye the 21-year-old as the long-term replacement for club stalwart Hugo Lloris.
The Frenchman is one of Tottenham’s longest-serving players after joining the club in 2012. However, the 33-year-old’s contract runs out in two years time and it is unclear if he will renew.
According to the Spanish outlet, though, the north London club already have their eye on a top-class replacement.
Despite still only 21, Donnarumma has played in Milan’s first team for over four seasons. As such, he is one of the most highly-rated goalkeepers in European football.
What’s more, he is a senior Italy international and already has 22 caps for his country.
The report claims that Spurs are ‘serious’ over signing the stopper but they will face a battle to do so, both from PSG and Milan themselves.
The French champions have reportedly been trying to convince Donnarumma to the Parc des Princes since 2017 with a ‘juicy contract’.
Meanwhile, the goalkeeper could yet renew with his Serie A employers. He has entered the final year of his current deal and is locked in negotiations over whether to extend.
But with super-agent Mino Raiola managing his off-field matters, there is every chance that he could leave. Indeed, Raiola has been outspoken in recent days about Paul Pogba, another of his top clients.
In the same interview with Tuttosport (via Football Italia), the agent confirmed that there are “many clubs” who are asking about Donnarumma.
