Instead, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta reportedly wants a new centre-back in January. The Spanish boss has made the decision despite a dilemma over his priorities. Arsenal are struggling for goals; they have only registered nine strikes this term and only four Premier League teams have had fewer shots on target. But defenders David Luiz, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi are all out of contract in the summer. As such, Arteta’s priority has become a new defender.
