Mourinho confirms he’s ready to show door to Tottenham midfield flop Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho insists he will not stand in the way of a possible return to Benfica for midfielder Gedson Fernandes. Fernandes, 21, joined Spurs on an 18-month loan deal back in January this year. However, things have not gone to plan, with only 13 appearances in all competitions for the youngster. Yet to make a Premier League start, he has featured for just 61 minutes in the top flight. It seems as though he is now surplus to requirements at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Portuguese tactician has a wealth of talent at his disposal in the middle of the park. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli are above Fernandes in the ranks. Mourinho refused to be too negative about the Portugal international but hinted he could be on his way. “For me it is never a problem, but a solution,” he told Sport TV. “Having him in the squad, even if he is not called up and not playing, is an extremely comfortable situation. “I will never be the one to push him or say that I don’t want him here. But I understand the situation of the kid and Benfica. “If the club wants to end the relationship here, we will be here to collaborate, because we want the good of the player. Benfica has the power to decide and will be accepted by us.” Vinicius in ‘different space’ to Fernandes Carlos Vinicius is another Benfica loanee who arrived in early October. The 25-year-old has impressed with his early-season form, making four appearances to date. Although he has played just 12 minutes of Premier League football, Mourinho has given him a chance in Europe. The striker has started two of the Lilywhites’ three Europa League matches. The north Londoners sit top of Group J having won two and lost one of their games this term. It appears as though he will see more action as the campaign progresses. But Mourinho feels it is wrong to compare the two loan stars. “Vinicius is different,” he added. “He arrived and his space is obvious. We have two strikers, we don’t have three, four or five, and he is one of the two. “The other is one of the three best strikers in the world and that creates him a difficult situation, but you can play both together, there are games in which you will do it.”   READ MORE: Spurs’ Gareth Bale options revealed   The post Mourinho confirms he’s ready to show door to Tottenham midfield flop appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING

Yet to make a Premier League start, he has featured for just 61 minutes in the top flight. It seems as though he is now surplus to requirements at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It appears as though he will see more action as the campaign progresses. But Mourinho feels it is wrong to compare the two loan stars.

“Vinicius is different,” he added. “He arrived and his space is obvious. We have two strikers, we don’t have three, four or five, and he is one of the two.

“The other is one of the three best strikers in the world and that creates him a difficult situation, but you can play both together, there are games in which you will do it.”
