And it is the acquisition of a top class centre-half that Carragher believes will put Liverpool over the edge as it pertains to the current campaign. “I think if Liverpool buy a centre-back, and a good one, in January, I think they’ll take some stopping, I really do,” he told Punching.TV (via The Mirror). “Defensively, they have injury problems in that position (centre-back). If they rectify that in January, I think Liverpool would be my favourites. “But right now I think it’s 50/50 between them and Man City because of Liverpool’s injuries and the setback of Van Dijk.” The points gap will disappear – Carragher The past few seasons have thrown up two-horse title races between Liverpool and Man City.
