Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has asked the club to pursue highly-rated Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto, according to a journalist.
Radio Radio‘s Ilario Di Giovambattista has claimed that the Toffees boss wants to bring the talent to Goodison Park in January.
He claims Ancelotti ‘fell in love’ with the former Liverpool player and wants to bring him back to Merseyside, this time for the blue half.
Giovambattista said: “I tell you that Everton wants Luis Alberto. He enchanted Carlo Ancelotti, who fell completely in love…
“So the coach asked the English club to contact Lazio, obviously at the right time perhaps in the January window, even if I think it is impossible to negotiate with President Lotito in January.
“However, even this latest story involving the Spaniard could have made the delay break a bit. Undoubtedly Carlo Ancelotti would like to bring him back to England.”
Alberto played 12 times for Liverpool between 2013 and 2016 which included loan spells at Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna.
He then went on to sign for Lazio for £4.3million in a permanent switch away from Anfield.
Ancelotti has been linked with the midfielder before and hopes Alberto’s arrival would feed his desire of adding more attacking creativity to his squad.

Alberto in for a fine time
Alberto has reportedly been vocal recently about how Lazio’s owners have run the club.
He has criticised them for buying a new jet for the squad instead of paying them their full wages amid the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Il Tempo (via the Daily Express), the playmaker is facing harsh questions over his future at the Italian club. The source adds that he faces a £63,000 fine.
Alberto played the full 90 minutes in Lazio’s 3-1 win over Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday evening.
