Liverpool are “ready to fight” Real Madrid for Kylian Mbappe with Jurgen Klopp desperate to coach the French sensation.
Spanish outlet Sport (via Sport Witness) carry those claims on Wednesday and say that Reds boss Klopp has “a direct line” to the Paris Saint-Germain star.
The 21-year-old’s contract is running down in the French capital with no signs of an extension.
The former Monaco attacker will see his existing deal expire in 2022 and PSG are keen to keep hold of him.
Klopp though is understood to be very keen on the forward and apparently “wants to coach” Mbappe.
And what’s more, the feeling is mutual.
Earlier this year, Mbappe said of the Anfield side: “What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing.
“They’re like a machine, they’ve found a rhythm and are like we play again, we play again. They’ve lost zero games. When you watch you think everything is easy but that’s not easy.”
Liverpool have been tracking the progress of Mbappe since 2016, and made an offer for him in 2017.
The German apparently made an impression on the player, and that’s where the reported “direct line” comes from. However, Paris Saint-Germain’s financial muscle priced the Reds out of the market and they instead signed Mo Salah.
L’Equipe claim the Reds are still keen on Mbappe, but LaLiga giants Real Madrid are “going to give everything” to get him to the Bernabeu.
Sport says Real boss Zinedine Zidane is still desperate to get hold of his fellow countryman.
Eduardo Inda told El Chiringuito that Zidane has sanctioned a swap deal involving Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian is rated at around €50m, so Real would have come up with another €130m to meet the €180m valuation of Mbappe.

Mbappe heading for Real Madrid
Former French team-mate Adil Rami believes the lack of any contract update can only point to one thing. And, although Liverpool continue to be linked, he feels Real Madrid are the inevitable destination after being asked where next for his compatriot.
Speaking on RMC Sport show, Top of the Foot, Rami said of the potential Madrid move: “I think it’s done, especially since it’s not moving forward in the [contract] discussions.
“You have the impression that it annoys him to talk about it. He does not talk about it with the club, his entourage.”
