West Ham are turning their attention towards Bournemouth striker Josh King after encountering difficulties in their pursuit of Said Benrahma, according to reports.
The transfer window for deals between Premier League and EFL clubs remains open until October 16th. It leaves Championship teams at risk of losing some of their best talent.
West Ham are looking to take advantage of this window of opportunity. They had been thought to be close to agreeing a deal for Benrahma.
The Algerian international was a key player for Brentford on their journey to the play-off final last season. And with Ollie Watkins already having left the club, he too could move on for bigger things.
Reports over the weekend suggested that West Ham had agreed a fee with Brentford to sign the attacker, who would then undergo a medical.
However, The Mirror now report that the deal could be off. That’s because their priority is to sign King instead.

The Norwegian striker has been a target for a number of Premier League clubs in 2020, including Tottenham and Manchester United.
Bournemouth already let Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Aaron Ramsdale join Premier League clubs in the main transfer window, and now they face a battle to keep hold of King.
West Ham are reportedly ready to launch a new bid to test their resolve ahead of the domestic transfer deadline. They have already seen a £13m offer turned down.
Bournemouth value King at £18m, even though he is in the last year of his contract.
Trio still interested in Benrahma
If Benrahma’s move to West Ham does fall through, he may still be able to secure an exit from Brentford.
The report claims the winger is angry with his current club about “broken promises”, and would like to leave before the deadline.
Crystal Palace could give him that opportunity, with The Mirror saying they retain an interest.
Meanwhile, The Athletic claim that Fulham and Aston Villa are also keen on Benrahma, who would cost around £25m.
