Spurs signed the likes of Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon and Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg during what a successful summer for them, but are hopeful of completing one more deal. However, they have so far been unwilling to meet Swansea’s price for Rodon, believed to be around £20million. Spurs, though, value him at around £7million and are refusing to pay over the odds. But a report in the Sun (via the Daily Express) say they are hoping to overcome that stumbling block by offering Carter-Vickers in exchange. The USA international is still unfancied by Tottenham having been sent out on loan in recent years. He spent last term in the Championship with Luton Town.   He looks likely to be shipped out again in the next week, and he could be making a return to Swansea if things go as Tottenham plan. Swansea was previously his temporary home during the 2018/19 season, when he made 33 appearances. And with Swans chief Steve Cooper said to be a fan of the Southend-born youngster, there is a chance that he could be convinced into doing business. Walker defends Tottenham returnee Bale In other news, Kyle Walker has come to the defence of Gareth Bale after the Welshman was heavily criticised for how his time with Real Madrid ended. Bale returned to Spurs last month, seven years after leaving for the Bernabeu. He won a whole host of trophies in Spain, however he fell out of favour in the last few years of his Madrid career. Bale’s attitude and application have been questioned as a result, but Walker insists his former teammate has been harshly judged.
