The transfer looked to have advanced when United and the winger agreed terms, but the exit fee eventually halted progress. As such, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s men looked elsewhere. They brought in Uruguayan youngster Facundo Pellistri, who Solskjaer says is a star for the future. Rising Atalanta star Amad Traore has also agreed a deal and will move to the Premier League in January. Elsewhere, free agent Edinson Cavani signed a contract and left-back Alex Telles arrived on a busy deadline day.
