Wolves are about to break their transfer record by signing Porto teenager Fabio Silva for £35m.
Multiple outlets carry the news, claiming that the move should become official within the next 24 hours. Fabrizio Romano, Sky Sports and the Telegraph are among those to back up the story.
Silva only made his debut for Porto in August 2019, but has already made an impression. The forward became their youngest ever starter and goalscorer over the course of last season.
Now, he could become the latest in a long line of Portuguese talents to join Wolves. Ruben Neves is perhaps the most high-profile player to move directly from Porto to Molineux.
But the fee Wolves will pay for Silva will break their transfer record, which is currently the £34.2m they paid Benfica to buy Raul Jimenez last summer.
Silva reportedly arrived in England on Friday to put the finishing touches to the deal. He will sign a five-year-contract.
Silva is a Portugal Under-19 international and has scored three times in 18 senior appearances for Porto. However, the Portuguese club were unable to keep him due to Financial Fair Play concerns.
Therefore, Jorge Mendes has helped facilitate Silva’s move to Wolves, where the striker will look to add competition for Jimenez.
Silva – who has only ever started one league game for Porto – will be Wolves’ first major signing of the transfer window.
