Mourinho swerves handball question; reveals how many Tottenham deserved to win by Jose Mourinho refused to comment on the decision to award Newcastle a late penalty which denied Tottenham all three points. Tottenham dominated proceedings when the two sides met on Sunday afternoon, with 12 shots on target in comparison to Newcastle’s one. But that sole effort on target – from a penalty given after a VAR check for an Eric Dier handball – was enough for the visitors to clinch a 1-1 draw. It was far less than Tottenham deserved, with their first half performance in particular putting them in strong contention for a comfortable win. But Mourinho refused to be drawn on whether the decision was correct or not. “I don’t think [about it],” Mourinho told Sky Sports. “I think about my team performance. Very good. Really, really good performance. First half amazing, should be three or four-nil easy. “But [Karl] Darlow was fantastic and we hit the post and they managed to survive. In the second half we kept control, kept them away from our box. We know the danger of the box. “We kept them always away and then we had that situation that we lost two points. “But I’m not going to comment on it. If I want to give money away I’ll give to charities. I don’t want to give it to the FA, so I prefer not to comment.” ‘BRUCE KNOWS IT COULD HAVE BEEN THREE OR FOUR NIL’ Tottenham’s performance was so strong in the first half that even Newcastle boss Steve Bruce knew how far behind his side should have been, Mourinho claimed. “It’s not for me to judge their performance,” Mourinho said. “They did their job the best they could. I think at half-time [Steve] Bruce was super happy with the score at 1-0. “He’s a very intelligent guy and a very experienced guy and a good friend. He knows football up and down. He knows at half-time it could be three or four-nil. “So he was very happy at half-time and they got their point.” ‘WE DESERVE MORE RESPECT’ Mourinho did concede to BBC Sport that he feels Tottenham are disrespected in comparison to other clubs. He complained: “The only feeling I am ready to share is that I don’t feel Tottenham is respected according to to what the club is. No respect. “It is my feeling. You know it is the third club I manager in the country, so happy so proud, so happy everyday, I would not change it for any other job in the world but I feel it, I feel we deserve more respect.”   The post Mourinho swerves handball question; reveals how many Tottenham deserved to win by appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING

‘BRUCE KNOWS IT COULD HAVE BEEN THREE OR FOUR NIL’

Tottenham’s performance was so strong in the first half that even Newcastle boss Steve Bruce knew how far behind his side should have been, Mourinho claimed.

“So he was very happy at half-time and they got their point.”

‘WE DESERVE MORE RESPECT’

Mourinho did concede to BBC Sport that he feels Tottenham are disrespected in comparison to other clubs.

He complained: “The only feeling I am ready to share is that I don’t feel Tottenham is respected according to to what the club is. No respect.

“It is my feeling. You know it is the third club I manager in the country, so happy so proud, so happy everyday, I would not change it for any other job in the world but I feel it, I feel we deserve more respect.”
