Manchester United have submitted a new and improved offer in their bid to sign Porto left-back Alex Telles, according to a report.
United have put much of their focus into signing a winger this transfer window. However the hunt for their top target has stalled, with Borussia Dortmund standing firm on Jadon Sancho‘s £108million valuation.
As such, left-back has become a priority area for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to improve upon. The Red Devils boss is keen to provide competition for Luke Shaw.
Telles has now emerged as United’s top target, with Sergio Reguilion moving to Tottenham. Indeed reports on Monday claimed that Old Trafford chiefs had made their first official bid.
That bid reportedly fell “significantly” short of Porto’s asking price and, as such, RMC Sport now says that United have submitted a second bid for the 27-year-old.
Journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi adds that there are “active negotiations” between Porto and United about a deal.
The reporter also reiterates previous reports that Telles has already given his word to United about a move to Old Trafford.
Porto are actively seeking a buyer for Telles given his contractual situation. The Brazilian has less than a year left on his current deal and has told his club he does not want to extend his terms.
As such, Porto are aware that this transfer window will be the final chance to recoup a fee for him. Indeed Telles will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January.
United’s only signing of the transfer window to date is Donny van de Beek, who signed from Ajax.
Milan keen on loan deal for Man Utd defender
Meanwhile, reports elsewhere claim that AC Milan are keen on a loan deal for United’s Diogo Dalot.
The full-back is firmly on the fringes at Old Trafford amid his struggles for game time.
And the Serie A side could look to swoop with an offer of a loan deal with an option to buy.
