Leeds up offer to €15m as bid to land Fiorentina star intensifies Leeds are reported to have raised their bid to €15m to sign Erick Pulgar after Fiorentina rejected their opening gambit. The player was first mentioned as a target for Marcelo Bielsa’s side over the weekend. United have already invested heavily this season signing Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia and Robin Koch from Freiburg. But they remain intent on bringing in midfield reinforcements. To that end, efforts to sign Rodrigo de Paul from Udinese have been stepped up. Chilean star Pulgar has been mentioned as an alternative to De Paul. However, the Chilean tends to operate more in a deeper midfield role. De Paul’s strengths are, entirely, in the final third. That said, Pulgar did play more advanced for Fiorentina last season and notched seven goals in 38 Serie A matches. Either way, sections of the Italian press are adamant Leeds are keen. Reports over the weekend claim they have seen an opening bid of €10m rejected by La Viola. Leeds appear undeterred, however. Monday’s edition of La Nazione, a newspaper close to the Serie A club, claims United are ‘serious’ about signing Pulgar. To that end, their article, translated by Sport Witness, says they are now ‘preparing an offer’, which would be their second. As per the report, Leeds are ‘intensifying’ their bid for the 26-year-old. There’s also a feeling that, after seeing their opening bid rejected, €15m could convince Fiorentina to sell.   Leeds miss out on Gvardiol United, meanwhile, appear to have lost the race for defensive target Josko Gvardiol. Leeds had outlined Gvardiol as a target to reinforce their backline after the departure of Ben White and the injury to Gaetano Berardi, who is now out of contract. Gvardiol is an 18-year-old centre-back who graduated into the Dinamo Zagreb first team last season. The Croatian under-21 international has made a total of 20 first team appearances so far. His early performances have shown promise, leading to much competition for his signature. But he has decided to continue his development elsewhere despite Leeds’ interest. Dinamo Zagreb had accepted a bid from Leeds worth £19.6m, and the Whites had offered the player better personal terms. However, the player appears to have opted for a move elsewhere after deciding they would suit his development better.   Read more here…   The post Leeds up offer to €15m as bid to land Fiorentina star intensifies appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING
