Arsenal could still offload Lucas Torreira before next Monday’s transfer deadline with interest from Italy still present.
Torreira’s entourage consider Serie A giants Roma to still be “a possibility” for the unwanted Arsenal midfielder, along with Torino and Atletico Madrid.
Mikel Arteta is open to offers for the Uruguay midfielder after deciding the 24-year-old has no future at The Emirates.
Torreira has not been involved under Arteta this term and Football London maintain the Gunners want £20m for the player, who is under contract until June 2023.
Football Italia report that his entourage told TeleRadioStereo that Roma “still represent a possibility” for the midfielder this summer.
Torino or Atletico Madrid had seemed more likely destinations for the player, who is apparently eager for a return to Serie A after his time at Pescara and Sampdoria.
Spanish giants Atletico had become the favourites to land the Uruguay international. Torriera reportedly agreed personal terms after speaking to Atletico boss Diego Simeone.
However, that trail has gone cold, and Roma appear to be Torreira’s best chance of returning to Italy.
Aouar funds
Arsenal boss Arteta will be desperate to sell the player so that he can help fund a move for Houssem Aouar.
RMC Sport report that Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas turned down an offer worth €36m last week. Arsenal though are keen to get the 22-year-old on board and will make another offer this week.
The source claim the Gunners will make a new bid at the beginning of the week worth €38m, which will also be rejected by the French club.
Get French Football News report that Aulas is looking for €50m minimum, excluding bonuses to get the deal done.
While RMC claim that suggestions the midfielder has agreed personal terms already are wide of the mark.
