Neville threatens t-shirt, badge combo if Liverpool handed Prem title Manchester United legend Gary Neville has joked he will wear an asterisk t-shirt and badge on Sky Sports next season if Liverpool are awarded the Premier League title. Jurgen Klopp’s men were closing in on their first title since 1990 when football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic in March. Neville admits it would be “ridiculous” for the Anfield outfit not to be crowned champions, even if the season fails to reach a natural conclusion. However, the former England defender says he will no longer leave the country if his old rivals finally end their 30-year wait title wait. Neville says it would be easier to live with if Liverpool were to win it in the current situation, although that would not stop him mocking Liverpool next season if they do not mathematically win the title. “I think it would be ridiculous not to give Liverpool the league,” Neville told Sky Sports Super 6. “However, when you get to the bottom of the league, I think it would be equally ridiculous to relegate teams when it’s so close. “We’ve seen that leagues have been awarded in other countries and in certain countries they’ve just null and voided it. “I don’t think null and void will be an option with what’s happening at the Premier League level. “No, no, no I wouldn’t leave the country [if Liverpool won the league], I think it’s less painful seeing them win it this way, without crowds in stadiums, without me being there. “I think I’d have my little asterisk t-shirt printed, or a little asterisk badge for the season on Sky next season, just for a bit of fun. “Look, they deserve to win the league, they’re the best team in the league and they will rightly I think at some point get awarded with the Premier League medal. “But it won’t stop us having a little bit of a joke in the next 20 years.”     Meanwhile, Loris Karius has confirmed his return to Liverpool after revealing he has opted to terminate his contract with loan side Besiktas. Karius, who joined the Reds in a £4.75m switch from Mainz in summer 2016, does not appear to have any future on Merseyside and will forever be remembered for his huge double mistake in the 2018 Champions League final, when Liverpool lost 3-1 to Real Madrid. Karius was sent out on a two-year loan to Besiktas in 2018 after a disastrous performance in the Champions League final loss to Real Madrid, with Alisson Becker proving to be a massive upgrade and helping the Reds win the trophy the season after. Liverpool had hoped that Karius’ two-year spell away from Anfield would revive his career, but things have not gone exactly to plan, and the keeper took to Instagram on Monday to confirm his time in Istanbul was now over following what has been reported as a pay dispute.
