Freiburg have set their asking price for Leeds United defensive target Robin Koch at €10m, according to reports.
Ben White has made a big impression at the back during his loan spell from Brighton, but if Leeds are unable to keep him next season – Liverpool and Manchester City are said to be interested – they will need to find someone to fill the void.
One possible solution to be mentioned so far is Robin Koch, who plays in the Bundesliga for Freiburg and has been capped twice by the senior German national team.
The 23-year-old is believed to have been scouted by Leeds this season, although Tottenham are also claimed to be interested as they brace themselves for the potential departure of Jan Vertonghen.
It had previously been thought that it would cost around €15m for Freiburg to sanction the sale of Koch, but A Bola (via Sport Witness) now claim that the asking price has dropped to €10m.
The reason is that Koch’s contract expires in 2021, and he is unwilling to sign a new deal with the German side – leading to a battle for his signature.
Serie A side Napoli and Portuguese giants Benfica are also mentioned as interested parties, meaning it may not be all that straight-forward for Leeds if they do wish to pursue the Kaiserslautern-born player.
However, the news of the reduced price tag will undoubtedly be a boost – especially with it being less than the fee Brighton are likely to command for their prize asset in White.
