Huge blow for Man Utd as €111m strike target turns nose up at mega offer Manchester United’s lure of a huge contract offer is unlikely to be enough to convince Lautaro Martinez to join them, according to reports. Inter Milan striker Martinez has become one of the biggest prospects in Serie A, with Barcelona heavily linked with a move for the Argentina international to team him up with compatriot Lionel Messi. Martinez is eyed by the Camp Nou club as a long-term successor to Luis Suarez – but they are not the only side interested in him, as there is Premier League interest. According to Catalan publication Sport (via Sport Witness), Martinez has become a target for Manchester United, who may be looking for a big-name striker despite the relative successes of Marcus Rashford and Odion Ighalo this season. Financial heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain have also begun to express an interest in Martinez, as like Barcelona, they will also soon need a long-term replacement for a Uruguayan striker in Edinson Cavani. Man Utd are one of the few clubs in the world who could compete with the Ligue 1 champions, and it is claimed they could present a salary offer of several millions to try and attract Martinez. Those offers do not appear to be exactly what Martinez wants, though, as Sport say he is not convinced by the Old Trafford project. The striker reportedly deems Champions League football unlikely for United next season, despite them being just one place outside the top four, which may eventually be enough for them to qualify if their rivals Manchester City’s European ban is upheld. Going to Barcelona instead would guarantee him action in Europe’s top international competition, and even though PSG would as well, Martinez only appears to have the La Liga giants in his mind.   Had United been able to convince Martinez, it would have proven a major coup – especially given that their rivals City had also been linked. City were interested in Martinez as part of a triple raid on Inter, but with Champions League football appearing to be the 22-year-old’s key criteria, their impending European ban would perhaps not be the best sign. Fellow Premier League side Chelsea have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the Argentine starlet in the past.   The post Huge blow for Man Utd as €111m strike target turns nose up at mega offer appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING

Manchester United’s lure of a huge contract offer is unlikely to be enough to convince Lautaro Martinez to join them, according to reports.
