However, United are expected to face major competition for the 27-year-old, with Tottenham already said to have bid £23million to land the player. Spurs are not said to view Plea as a replacement for Kane, as they are confident of keeping the England skipper, and want the forward as a back-up option in north London. But United’s lack of a true No.9 could give Plea more opportunities to shine at Old Trafford, if Solskjaer decides that the forward is up to cutting it in the Premier League.     Meanwhile, Alan Shearer has urged United to take advantage of the uncertainty in the transfer market this summer and snap up three top targets. Jadon Sancho, Harry Kane and Jack Grealish have all been strongly tipped to head to Old Trafford when the season eventually finishes, with all three players facing uncertain futures at their current clubs. Solskjaer has already spoken of how his club can “exploit” the financial difficulties being faced by some outfits amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and Shearer thinks that United should make a huge power play to snap up all three stars.
