That’s a reduction of €10m from the price Tottenham had been expected to be asked for, when Mourinho outlined him as a potential upgrade to Tanguy Ndombele in the centre of midfield last month. Currently lingering in seventh place in La Liga but only four points off the top four, Valencia are aware that they may need to raise funds if they miss out on qualification for next season’s Champions League. Hence, they may be forced into selling some of their key players – like Kondogbia – at a discounted price. That will also attract the attention of Arsenal, who have been tipped to join their rivals in the race for the 27-year-old midfielder, who has four caps for the Central African Republic after switching international allegiance in 2018. In a separate report from Plaza Deportiva (via Sport Witness), Everton are also suggested to be interested in a deal for Kondogbia, although they are still in the early stages of monitoring him. And a report from Football London claims that Tottenham could also consider moves for Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure or Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic, as Mourinho looks to bolster his midfield ranks.
