Draxler earns around £120,000-per-week with PSG, which Arsenal would not be able to afford, even if they got Ozil – who earns nearly three times as much – off the books. And even though Arsenal would have to convince him to take a pay cut, they may be optimistic that Draxler’s good relationships with Shkodran Mustafi, Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin could persuade him to make the switch. Draxler had previously been tipped to replace Christian Eriksen at Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur, while he was reportedly the player that Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign for Liverpool instead of Mohamed Salah – only for the Germany international to snub his compatriot Jurgen Klopp. And Draxler may prove to be an easier target to acquire than a former Liverpool star in Philippe Coutinho, who has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as he ponders a Premier League return. Draxler has contributed six assists for PSG this season, but has not scored, and has made considerably fewer appearances than in either of his previous two full seasons in Paris, suggesting his time there is nearly up. Arsenal will also have to beat off competition from one other unnamed Premier League club, as well as Hertha Berlin, who are pushing to take him back to his home country.
