The former Spurs winger has advised Feyenoord wideman Berghuis to stay put in Holland and continue with the Rotterdam-based club. The player’s agent Mino Raiola thinks otherwise and believes the 28-year-old can play higher, he told de Volkskrant: “He’ll still want to go if he likes something. “He is a good guy who knows exactly what he wants. Maybe a late bloomer, but his potential is great and he is already the best player in the premier league. Not only in recent months, but before that too.” But after a spell at Watford five years ago, Van der Vaart has called on Berghuis to stay and keep up his momentum with the national team. He told de Volkskrant: “I think he should stay with Feyenoord. He is the man there, the team is built around him. “Do you have to go to somewhere like Everton when you are almost 29? “If you go there and don’t play well for two games they will replace you with a clumsy Englishman and you will be out of the picture with the national team.” Berghuis has scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists for the Eredivisie side this season and is under contract until 2022.
