Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has told boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer exactly why he should pursue a big-money move for Jadon Sancho, according to reports.
United have long been linked with Borussia Dortmund winger Sancho after his incredible breakthrough since moving to the Bundesliga and the Red Devils were credited with serious interest last summer.
Such speculation has not waned this season and after being directly involved in 36 goals this term, reports have indicated that the attacker is among Solskjaer’s top targets.
Indeed, it has been claimed that Sancho has given an unofficial ‘yes’ to the prospect of moving to Old Trafford.
According to the Irish Independent, Rashford – who is understood to be close friends with fellow England international Sancho – has been doing his bit to convince United to move for the winger.
The newspaper claims that Rashford has told Solskjaer that Sancho is “decent, dependable and very much likes the idea” being put together by the Norwegian manager, who it is said has been listening intently to his striker.
Solskjaer, who celebrated his one-year anniversary of being permanent United boss on Sunday – has made five signings so far, starting with the acquisitions of Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka last summer.
Maguire and Wan-Bissaka have largely been solid in defence while James has shown glimpses of exciting attacking talent.
Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo were brought in during the January transfer window, with both enjoying impressive starts to their careers at Old Trafford.
Fernandes has scored three goals and assisted four others already, while loan signing Ighalo’s four goals helped United progress in the Europa League and FA Cup before the season was halted.
In other news, United are reportedly confident of bringing Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez to United as Fernandes’ midfield partner.
