Only last night the FA announced that the National League seasons would be cancelled, with all the results being expunged. They announced a decision to cancel the National League system below steps 1 and 2, meaning that there will be no promotion or relegation of clubs between NLS Steps 3 to 6, as well as no promotion to NLS Step 2. That has led to many fans calling for the same to happen across the Premier League and EFL, with the prospect of returning to action from April 30 looking more and more unlikely, as per talkSPORT. At a meeting of all 20 top-flight teams last week, there was a “100 per cent” commitment to completing the 2019-20 campaign, but it appears feelings have changed. The Athletic refers to a ‘senior figure’ who claims that discussing playing behind closed doors while the coronavirus crisis is at its peak is not morally right. “You look at the people sitting around the Premier League table by Skype; their egos cannot sustain a mirror being held up to them,” they said,” the senior figure is quoted as saying. “The fact is they are not as important as a Tesco delivery driver at this time. We run a game. No more, no less.
