Former Juventus striker Luca Toni has picked the striker perfect for the Turin club and it’s somewhat of a surprise.
Toni, 42, who was capped 47 times by Italy, thinks Juve should be looking to sign Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.
The Serie A champions are looking for a new striker this summer to share the burden with Cristiano Ronaldo and Toni has run the rule over several contenders.
Harry Kane, Mauro Icardi, Timo Werner and Jesus have all been name-checked by the former Fiorentina hitman.
“Kane is a true, strong centre-forward, who fills the area like few others,” he told Tuttosport via Sport Witness.
“Icardi grew up at PSG, but out of the area, he has to do better. Haaland has had a super impact; he has to be seen in three years.
“Werner is pushing Leipzig, but he still has to prove a lot. Gabriel Jesus is less killer, but opens up spaces and does assists.”
Whoever Juventus do target, they will have to fit in with Juve’s main man Ronaldo, 35, and with that in mind Toni says the Man City man is perfect.
“I say, Gabriel Jesus, he would be Cristiano Ronaldo’s ideal sidekick,” he added.
“CR7 isn’t a pure centre forward, but he’s the one who scores the most in the end and has to score the most goals. A killer like Kane is not necessarily a good match for him.
“Gabriel at City scores but he also creates a lot of goals, he’s only 22 years old, and I think he would be the perfect partner for the Portuguese.”
