One former Reds midfielder even urged the club to ditch Salah and sign Sancho as his replacement this week. However, a report in the Irish Independent claims Sancho has given the green light to move to United this summer, with Chelsea and Liverpool now cooling their interest after being made aware of the 20-year-old’s choice. Furthermore, The Sun has claimed the player will wear the No 7 shirt and will opt to move to United regardless of whether the club secure Champions League football or not. Dortmund demand huge fee for Sancho Manchester City are also reported to have passed up the chance to re-sign their former player despite having first refusal on Sancho, given they already have Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Riyah Mahrez as wide options. But Pep Guardiola’s side will still pocket 15% of any fee Dortmund receive for the Sancho, and it is partially in that knowledge that has forced the club’s chief executive to take a strong stance on their asking price for the player, thought to be around €130m (£116.2m). Hans-Joachim Watzke insisted if a deal is done that sees Sancho leave, it will be on the Bundesliga outfit’s terms. Watzke told Bild: “You always have to respect what the player wants. “We said before coronavirus that our favourite idea is that Jadon will stay with us. “I can say that even the very rich clubs, despite the existing crisis, don’t believe they can go on a bargain tour with us. “We don’t have to sell anyone below value.” Sancho is under contract at the Westfalenstadion until 2022 after penning an extension in October 2018, but has fallen out with the club on a few occasions this season. Former United striker Dimitar Berbatov, meanwhile, believes Sancho will find the lure of a move to Old Trafford impossible to resist. “There’s been a lot of talk about Jadon Sancho moving to Manchester United, in his case, because he’s English and Man United are in for you, I don’t think he will think twice about moving there,” Berbatov told Betfair. “I have said it before, he has the quality, the pace, the goals and the assists to play for them, I’m sure he would like to continue in the national team as well and Gareth Southgate will watch him more if he is playing in the Premier League. “For me, if they get him he is going to be a great addition but I’m curious to see how they would line up. United have: Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Daniel James, Mason Greenwood and possibly Sancho next season, even though you want that competition for young players it could be tricky to see them all playing at the same time. “If he is going to move somewhere else, he needs to know that he is going to play regularly, there is no point going somewhere else and not playing as much as you want. Ultimately, it is down to you, when you get the chance to show you can play, you have to take it and show what you can do. “Also, when you play abroad you always want to go back to your home country.
