Crystal Palace are set to make a last minute move for RB Leipzig’s Jean-Kevin Augustin should wantaway talisman Wilfried Zaha get his move away from Selhurst Park.
Zaha recently handed in a transfer request following Palace’s rejection of a £70m bid including Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy on loan from Everton, but the Merseyside club remain resolute in their efforts to sign the Ivory Coast international.
Should the 26-year-old succeed in his efforts to depart the London Club, Palace could turn to Augustin who Sky Sports News report “is still in Germany but is on standby to fly to London.”
Augustin can play as either a winger or as a central striker, and has contributed 20 goals from his 67 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga team.
It is understood that a fee of around £15 million would be required to secure the service of the France international.
It has been a busy couple of days for manager Roy Hodgson after the experienced boss wrapped up the permanent signing of Everton’s James McCarthy for an undisclosed fee, as well as the loan signing of ex-Cardiff midfielder Victor Camarasa.
