Jurgen Klopp reveals biggest fears for Liverpool in the season ahead Jurgen Klopp has admitted that a lack of rest and recuperation for his squad over the summer months may lead to burnout for the Reds in 2019-20. Liverpool finished the season the joint-latest of all the English clubs when they secured a sixth European Cup on June 1. The majority of the squad then jetted off to compete in international tournaments including the UEFA Nations League, Copa America and AFCON. Liverpool’s start to the new season will be particularly strenuous given their participation in both the Community Shield on August 4 and the UEFA Super Cup on August 14. With key members of Klopp’s squad including the vaunted front three of Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino still yet to return to training, Klopp voiced his concerns about fatigue for his troops. “We sit here and it sounds like I am having a moan or whatever. It is just the situation, in the long-term, is not acceptable,” Klopp told The Mirror. “For here (on pre-season) it is not a problem. We have all the boys here, apart from the three up front and Ali. “It’s not like after three days you can say to them, ‘Hey! Come on! Let’s start running again!’. They have had a tough summer programme. It’s football. “It’s not riding a bike, so you lose a little bit (of rhythm). It will all come back but it will be a tough start. “In the future, we have to change that. We have to change it. It is not possible (to continue).” Compounding Klopp’s anxiety is the fact that the Premier League kicks off the earliest of any of the major European leagues, with Liverpool coincidentally the opening fixture versus Norwich on Friday August 9. The German said: “But then England and the Premier League, it starts the earliest? Huh? Where is the space for training? Come on! “It looks like nobody can imagine a week without football in the year. When did that happen? A game again, a game again. “It is difficult, difficult for the boys. Everything will be fine this season. But in the long-term? We have to change it.   “There must be breaks. Come on, let them go. Be brave. Don’t treat every game like it is the last of a decade. “The pressure is everywhere. We need to calm this down. We need proper breaks, then you will get world class performances. “Then you can enjoy these boys in the long-term and it will be easier for the younger ones to come through.” Meanwhile, Mane will miss the Community Shield clash against Manchester City on August 4 after Klopp confirmed the Senegal star would not return to training until Monday August 5.   Get the latest personalised Reds products on our new TEAMtalk Liverpool shop!   The post Jurgen Klopp reveals biggest fears for Liverpool in the season ahead appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING
