Aston Villa retain interest in Sturridge despite suspension Aston Villa are still interested in a move for Daniel Sturridge, who has offers from six different countries, according to reports. The free agent striker, who on Thursday received a six-week ban from football in relation to breaches of betting rules, will be able to return to playing from 31st July after part of that sentence was suspended. Sturridge left Liverpool at the end of last season to a glowing reception from Jurgen Klopp, and according to the Mirror, newly-promoted Aston Villa are one of several sides interested in the 29-year-old. Villa are in the market for a new striker as they may need to replace the goalscoring output of Tammy Abraham, who could stay at Chelsea after suggesting he is ready to make the step up. Per the report, Villa were awaiting the outcome of the FA investigation as they weighed up a move for the 26-cap England man, who last featured for his country two years ago. A spokesman is quoted as saying: “In light of the Regulatory Commission’s decision after the prolonged FA case Daniel Sturridge can now map out his future. Numerous football teams across the world have been in contact looking for an opportunity to bring him to their club. “Teams in many countries including America, China, Italy, Spain and France, as well as clubs closer to home in the Premier League are continuously enquiring about his availability and putting their case forward for why Daniel should choose them. “Now he can make his next choice with the clarity of being able to walk into any football club and train immediately. Then he can get back to playing competitively from the start of the season, and show how passionate he is about scoring goals again in the sport he loves.” Bologna have been tipped to make a surprise bid for the centre-forward, while he could reunite with Brendan Rodgers – under whom he enjoyed the best form of his career – at Leicester City.   Get the latest personalised Villains products on our new TEAMtalk Aston Villa shop!   The post Aston Villa retain interest in Sturridge despite suspension appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING
