Manchester United are ready to trigger the exit clause for a French hot-shot, while Arsenal have launched a third, and probably, final offer for an in-demand Celtic star, according to Wednesday’s papers.
MAN UTD READY SWOOP FOR WISSAM BEN YEDDER
Manchester United have contacted the agent of Wissam Ben Yedder to inform him they are ready to meet the £36m exit clause in his Sevilla contract.
The skillful France forward is one of the most-feared strikers in LaLiga, scoring 30 times in 51 appearances in all competitions last season.
The 28-year-old has also been mentioned as a potential target for Barcelona, but ABC De Sevilla, via The Sun, claims United want him as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who they hope to offload this summer. The Belgium striker’s agent provided a key update on the future of Lukaku on Tuesday night amid heightening claims he is wanted by Inter Milan.
Ben Yedder has a €40m (£36m) exit clause in his Sevilla contract and it’s believed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him to replace Lukaku in his squad – and also hopes to make around a £30m – £35m profit in the process.
Ben Yedder has admitted he is open to moving on this summer – but only if he is given permission by Sevilla to move on.
He said: “I dream of playing at the highest level, in the biggest clubs in the world and be next to world class players. To see how far I can go.
“I cannot be disrespectful in the club. Whatever the final decision, I’ll be fine. I’m not worried about my future.
“I will find a balance after the choice is made, but it will also be Sevilla who decides.”
Ben Yedder turns 29 in August and has two years remaining on his current Sevilla contract.
