Dani Alves has been touting himself to Barcelona for a return to the Camp Nou after confirmation he is leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer, claim reports.
Diario Sport and Marca both claim a report taken from Catalan radio station RAC1 claims the 36-year-old full-back has been in contact with Barca over a dramatic return.
The Brazil international, who scored in the 5-0 win over Peru in the Copa America on Saturday, will leave PSG on June 30 when his contract expires.
Alves has been in France for two years after signing from Juventus and it appears he has his heart set on returning to Catalonia, where he spent eight years between 2008-2016.
Barca may well be looking for a new right-back with Nelson Semedo looking for more game time.
Midfielder Sergi Roberto was preferred at right-back by Ernesto Valverde for much of the season, but Barca have made it clear to Semedo and his agent Jorge Mendes – he won’t be sold unless someone pays his €100million release clause, claims Marca.
Even then though, Valverde is not contemplating a move to bring Alves back, reports the Spanish outlet.
Alves played 391 games for Barca after joining the club from Sevilla.
“Today I close another cycle in my life, a cycle of victory, learning and experiences,” Alves said on Instagram.
“It was two years of resilience and continuous reinventing to fulfil my mission, but in life everything has a beginning, a middle and an end and now the time has come to put that final point here.
“I apologise if at any point I was not up to the pitch, I apologise if at some point I made a mistake, just tried to give my best.”
Manchester City, Chelsea and Man Utd have all been linked with the veteran in the past.
